Twenty-eight years ago, right around “this time” in 1993, this song was rising to number two on the U.S. hit charts.
It was his first Top 40 hit in the US!
It was the lead single from his first album, “The Chronic,” and was a joint number with his “rap friend” Snoop Doggy Dogg.
The song, which sampled Leon Haywood’s “I Want’a Do Something Freaky to You,” a “creaky” funk tune from 1975, reached its highest number two position that week. It was Snow’s “Informer” that prevented him from taking the title….
