Twenty-three years ago, right about this time in 1997, the song was on the U.S. hit chart and at number one.
The Notorious B.I.G., a fellow member who had been struck down by a deadly bullet four months earlier (March 9, 1997). This number was dedicated to him. Boldly, The Police’s smash hit “Every Breath You Take” ,The song was also a hot topic of conversation because of the sampling.
Including this week, the song has been No. 1 for 11 weeks in a row.
