全米ヒット・チャートで、40位に上昇していたのが、
この曲でした。
元Bronski BeatのJimmy Somervilleと、
クラシック畑を歩んでいたRichard Colesによる、
イギリスのダンス・ユニットが放ったカヴァー・ヒット。
1975年に、Harold Melvin & the Blue Notesで
「そこそこヒット」・・・。
そして、その2年後の1977年には、Thelma Houstonが
全米NO.1に送り込んだ名曲中の名曲ですね！
この週の40位が、最高位。
しかし、
本国では、見事NO.1を射止めました。
ちなみに、
1970-1989で、全米40位、全英1位というケースは、
もう1組。
やはり、男性デュオによるあの「悲劇」な曲でした・・・。
